A Question for Harry Potter fans? (5th book SPOILERS)?

Sirius died. Harry went to Nearly Headless Nick to see if Sirius is a ghost, and he is not. Well, how does one become a painting in Hogwarts or somewhere else? When Dumbledore died he became a painting because he was a headmaster. Why wasn't Sirius made into a painting?
